We’re fast approaching the time of greatest anxiety for university and college students: graduation.
Virtually every undergraduate is wondering, “What is job-hunting like? Will I have to move across the country? Will I be broke? What will my college degree actually be worth?”
To help address those fears, students in my Publishing in the 21st Century class at Champlain College have collaborated to write, edit, design, publish, and market Postcards from Postgrads, a post-graduation life guide for those about to take the plunge.
They contacted more than 120 recent graduates and asked them what they would tell their undergrad selves now they have seen the outside world.
The responses are moving, surprising, honest, direct. Things change. Tragedy strikes. Opportunities arise, often in unfamiliar disguises.
In the end, the most important qualities—ones you often don’t develop until you need to—are resilience, resourcefulness, determination.

P.S. Royalties go to the students involved. It’s part of their education in being professionals. Plus it’ll help buy a better class of couch.
