For the past 20 years, I’ve been playing live music for Vermont weddings–traditional weddings, alternative weddings, straight weddings, gay weddings, commitment ceremonies, weddings in churches and weddings on hillsides and on mountaintops–the full colorful panorama of weddings in Vermont.

I play solo guitar, but I also can provide guitar-and-flute duo or guitar-flute-bass trio. Specific requests are usually not a problem.

Hey, everyone. This is just a swift note to let you know that on Saturday at the Burlington Book Festival I launched two books, THE GHOSTS OF GOOD INTENTIONS and THE DRIVEWAY DIARIES SECOND EDITION.
The Ghosts of Good Intentions is a kind of Greatest Hits from my days with National Public Radio, though like any good release it has a few bonus tracks as well. In radio terms it spans the years 1989-2010, when I was one of NPR’s three long-term-contract essayist/commentators (the title varied with the political wind), and wrote about subjects as serious as the Velvet Revolution in Prague and as trivial as the sound of a knife scraping burnt toast.The essays are arranged in reverse chronological order, so they become less an autobiography and more an inquiry.
The Driveway Diaries has the bizarre distinction of being the only book I know that went out of print because it sold too well. The publisher, a small literary press in New York, was apparently so annoyed at having to reprint it that when all 2,000 copies had sold in a matter of weeks he simply stopped. Now available for the first time in ten years, with three additional essays to round off my period of living at the food of a steep gravel driveway off a dirt road in semi-rural Vermont.
